My Story

Hello! I’m Emily, a biologist and a baker. After grad school in Fish Ecology, I experienced some career confusion and embarked on an 8-year entrepreneurial baking journey - this culminated in the opening of a retail bakery in Petaluma, CA, Bump City Bakery. After seven years in business and a couple of years running the retail bakery, I was all tuckered out - my difficulty saying no and sensitive nature resulted in some serious burnout. I closed the bakery and went back to my biology career, but my heart and soul subsequently informed me that they weren’t done baking yet.

This has all led me to the opening of my cottage food business, Emily’s Bakehouse. It has been my dream for quite awhile to open a small, simple bakery out of my home. I offer vegan and gluten-free cookies, cupcakes, and scones; with a focus on wholesale cookies for cafes, markets, and other food businesses. Every few weeks or so, I offer some goodies that can be ordered via my online store for delivery to your home on Fridays, between 4 and 6p. Delivery is available for folks in Petaluma, Penngrove, Cotati, and Rohnert Park.
